This stretch of shoreline at the end of 5th Street overlooking Fidalgo Bay is one of my favorite spots ... and now the cul de sac features a pair of benches placed in memory of the late Dean Allen. In addition to a great view of Mt. Baker, this location offers opportunity to watch boat traffic coming in and out of Anacortes marinas. Oil tankers, barges and tugboats are also regular users of this marine highway. To reach this spot, take a left on 5th Street on the way up the hill to Cap Sante.
