City, tribe seek trestle repair donations

In a joint statement issued Monday, October 26, the City of Anacortes and Samish Indian Nation stated in regard to the fire-damaged Tommy Thompson Trail trestle: "We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support that has been received from our community. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to express your feelings of loss and your willingness to help in our efforts to rebuild. We will be accepting donations to help us achieve this goal through Anacortes Parks Foundation, PO Box 1902, Anacortes, WA 98221. A contribution made to the Anacortes Parks Foundation is tax deductible through their 501.C.3 status. For additional information you may contact Anacortes Parks Department at 360-293-1918." Investigation into the suspicious trestle fire continues. An April 2010 date has been suggested as the possible timeframe for a repaired, re-opened trestle.
